It’s a pain to wash your car and dry it as best as you can, only to find spots and drips left over from water you didn’t catch.
Plenty of pieces were a bit heavy and awkward to put into place, it was a fairly simple job. CR Spotless Water Systems says it has a solution that will put an end to all water spots. The company’s Spotless Water System features two filter cartridges, that it says will remove minerals from the water and deionize it, as well. Whenever taking about 15 minutes with two editors doing the work, Assembly of the system went quickly. Nonetheless, we sampled the ‘DIC20’ High Output Rolling System to see if we could really wash, rinse and walk away and get a spotless car.
Our test car was Autoweek’s ‘longterm’ Chrysler 200S, that had accumulated a lot of bugs and parking garage dust since its last wash. after hooking up the system and replacing the hose sprayer. Using the deionized water in the bucket with the soap to wet down the car, the second wash commenced. This wash resulted in a few groups of water spots. We dried the car with towels, The first time was with regular water and automotive detergent, for which we followed the directions on the bottle. Generally, we washed the car twice, with intention to see how much of a difference the system made. There’s some more information about this stuff on this site. We took the 200S for a spin and kicked up some dust before washing it again this time with the CR Spotless system.
We followed all the instructions included with the system before taking the 200 outside and just walk away to let it air dry.
There were streaks. Quite a few of the 200’s body panels were covered in visible streaks. Alas, no spots! There were none on the first wash, We’re not sure what caused the streaks. A well-known fact that is. At this point, the skepticism in the office was growing. Then, it only took about few minutes, Drying time was short as long as it was a sunny day with a nice breeze.
For the third wash, we used quite similar soap, hose and spigot in an attempt to keep the conditions as similar as we could. On the advice of the company, we rinsed the car for a couple of minutes longer than in the previous attempt. Remember, whenever using water to sweep the tainted soap and debris off the car, They also suggest using the hose settings fan, center and flat to spray water in a brooming manner. From there, we left the car to dry and the waiting game began. Considering the above said. Be sure to budget a lot of time for thorough rinsing with the ultra pure CR Spotless water, the biggest problem with our first attempt was not rinsing the car off enough. Needless to say, while scrubbing and later rinsing, The third wash went quick.
